Westlander with Kodiak

Westlander 5800 With Kodiak:

The boat and engine supplied by client was dropped into us for a repower. The boat was formally fitted with a Leyland P76 engine (worn out). We stripped out the engine bay and started again. This required a lot of fabrication work due to the size of the new engine. The engine is a Chevrolet based L86 DDI 430HP Kodiak. We also overhauled the Hamilton Jet 753 unit and fitted new Southern Jet impellers and steering nozzle to handle the increase in horsepower from 180HP to 430HP. This boat gets straight up out of the water now and cruises nicely at 3200RPM. We GPS speed checked this boat at full throttle at 5000RPM in the mighty Waikato River at 90KPH, so the power is available for crossing the Horahora river mouth at Ngunguru Bay Northland.
